Even though I live a little further north now, I carry Nashville, Music City, in my heart with me every day. For anyone with ears who loves music, the Grammys mean seeing your favorite voice dressed up, and is basically fashion, personified.
I’m not going to lie though, this award season has been up and down for me. The Emmys – eh, The Golden Globes – YES!, and now the Grammy’s put me back down on a lull again. Let me walk you through my top picks and oh, those lowly lows.
Haley’s Picks:
Best Dressed: Queen Mother herself, Beyonce
Bey’s really having a moment right now. It’s a moment that has lasted about a year and seems to be showing no signs of stopping. I mean, can we all just harness that power oozing out of her?!?? I could fight fire with a water gun if I had that kind of confidence. I think she stunned in this Michael Costello masterpiece. The best touch: the lace wristlet she rocks, nodding back to the 80’s.
P!nk: Yes, I approve
So, never been a big Pink fan, what with her abrasive attitude and scary biceps. But she’s a bit of a blooming flower. Now, this photo shows us that even the best dressed do get their legs a little tangled in their satin train, but I thought the top bustier fit her so nicely. All the architecture at the top of her Johanna Johnson gown is lovely. Who doesn’t love a lady glowing in red. GO ON, PINK. And yes, your rope act is a bit tired, but at least we know what to expect.
Katy Perry:
Typically, the only time I like a “themed” look is when everybody gets festive for the Met Costume Gala. But really, this Dior gown on Katy is ethereal and wonderful. The sheer tulle looks like she could float away; the girl’s practically getting engaged to John Mayer, so really, she’s already on cloud nine. And when else can you wear a custom Dior gown with sheet music printed into the tulle…. YOU CAN’T. I hear you roar Katy, and you look perfect.
Worst Dressed
Anna Kendrick:
Anna. I’m over it. The cutouts don’t lay quite right, and yes, you are small and tiny, so you can rock that high slit. But the Azzaro gown hits the ground at a weird angle and NOW you look even shorter. 5 points for your beautiful hair, though.
Sara Bareilles:
I haven’t seen Sara out-and-about lately, so when she emerges from her creative cocoon wearing this, with those red shoes that I had in high school, I feel concerned. Hi-lo needs to go. I would have loved this more if it was just short! Or long! Choose a length, people, CHOOSE A LENGTH.
Let’s Hear It For The Boys
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
Even though I don’t love the smoking slippers, I thought Macklemore looked so dapper in his velvet teal suit. He pulled it off without looking like an idiot! Ryan Lewis, standing directly to M’s right, did not have the same fate, unfortunately.
Miguel:
It’s a long story, but the Hoover’s have been chasing Miguel for a year. In September, when I toured Saint Laurent’s Madison Avenue store, I was informed that Miguel had just shopped the store yesterday. Missed him again! But, I feel connected to him because he donned SL on the Grammy Red Carpet tonight, and really rocked it out! He did his whole image right! The non-suit look sometimes comes off as too casual, but Miguel, in all his hip-hop swagger, brought the house down in leather pants.
Let’s see what Miss Carrie M thought about Music’s Biggest Night!
Carrie M’s Picks:
I love the Grammys. They are sorta like the Super Bowl for us music geeks. ;) I am always excited to see what my favorites will be wearing! Plus, the performances! So, without further ado, here are my picks.
Best Dressed: TAYLOR SWIFT in Gucci Premiere.

Holy Smokes. Taylor looked STUNNING in her metallic, floor length Gucci gown. I feel like this picture just doesn’t do it justice. It was the absolute perfect choice for the Grammy carpet. A little edgy, but totally elegant. Her makeup was soft and sweet, and I adored her shoes. I just adore her in general really. Can we be BFF, Tay-Tay? You are sorta fab.
Tie for Best Dressed: Chrissy Teigen in Johanna Johnson

Evidently, I am all about the metallics right now. How gorge is Chrissy in this gown?! It fits her like a glove and is so flattering. And, the train? Stop. Her jewelry, her hair, all of it- perfection. Love, love, love!!
Worst Dressed: Chrisette Michele.

Woah. Where do I start? Maybe with the fact the she forgot her shirt. Really? Please. Ladies, can we all just agree to not leave home without a shirt on? Now, lets talk about that print. On second thought, lets not. How bout we just forget that this whole thing ever happened? Mmmk.
Runner up for Worst Dressed: Zendaya

No. No. no. Not a fan. She is so young and so beautiful. I just wish she would have gone a different (better) direction here. This dress feels too mature for her. It’s all wrong for a carpet. It’s just not good. Ok, I’ll stop. Loved her on DWTS, though! ;)
Grammy’s guys, they get us music girls all worked up. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t we just a few weeks out from the Oscars? Stay tuned for our next red carpet review!
