Happy (belated) New Year! It always amazes me how quickly life seems to come to a screeching halt post holidays. All of the hustle and bustle is abruptly interrupted by the “dull” month of January, and the start of a new year. Or at least, for some. I, on the other hand, am cool with this time of year for a few reasons: not only am I a January baby, but this slower time of year makes room for those “around the house” projects that I have put off for a while. I have a semi-lengthy list (as I am notorious for constantly having a project in mind), but one in particular I was able to knock-out, due to a handy little Christmas present I received. Yes, this girly-girl asked for her very own drill for Christmas. Ask and you shall receive. ;)
My first project of the year, was to recover my bar stools in my kitchen. I have had some fabulous fabric burning a hole in the drawer of a dresser, just waiting to be used for something. Bar stools it is!! The prominent color in my kitchen is black, and accented with curtains in my favorite print – toile – in black and cream. I had this striped fabric with neutral stripes (khaki, cream, pale blue), which also includes a black stripe. I love the contrast, as well as the mix of prints! So, off came the seats, thanks to my new drill, and I recovered them by simply using a staple gun. They turned out fab! Check them out for yourself….
This little project only required a small amount of fabric – maybe a yard. Have any scrap fabric, and a little something that could use some sprucing up? Go for it! This literally took me 15 minutes, and totally transformed these stools.
More “around the house” projects and results to come! I hope this inspires you to maybe knock out a few of those little things that you’ve been meaning to get done, but have been putting off.
Happy Saturday, everyone! Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
