Okay, ladies. So, I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to supposed “beauty miracles,” because I tend to think that most of them are just a lot of hype to get us to spend more money on the newest beauty junk…. But. I have honestly experienced my own beauty miracle. An eyelash-lengthening miracle, that is. And I found out about it by none other than my beautiful, college-aged babysitter (thank you, Brooke!!). She showed up after summer break looking gorgeous, as usual, but I swore she was wearing fake eyelashes, so I asked her if she was, of course (I have an ongoing fascination with fake eyelashes – I think they’re so pretty and glam, but never have the time to fuss with them – wah). Anyway, she said she wasn’t, but she’d been using a product called LiLash for the past few weeks, and saw a major difference in the first week she used it. I was sold. Her lashes looked uh-mazing.
I tried LiLash for myself for the first time back in February, and I have to say I was really, really impressed. Like Brooke, I saw a major difference after one week, and have sported and maintained this new, thicker, longer, lash length ever since. I love it!!! Here’s an iphone snap of my lashes after using LiLash one week (I wish I had the forethought of snapping one before I started using it – sorry!):
I’ve never really thought my lashes were super short or sparse exactly, but who-in-the-world wouldn’t want their natural lashes to be longer and thicker?! Unlike other similar products out there, it’s affordable, lasts forever, and no prescription is needed. It’s priced at $95, below, at overstock.com (cheapest I could find at credible sites), but you should only need to purchase it once or twice a year, at most. Not bad!! And it’s simple and fast to use….
How it works: After washing your face (and prior to moisturizing the eye area), just swipe a tiny bit along your upper lash line – inner corner, to outer edge – it’s like you’re applying clear, liquid eyeliner. Be sure to scrape off the access before you apply – you really just need a tiny, tiny bit. Apply every night at bedtime for a week, or until you reach your desired length, and then just maintain them once a week after that. Easy-peasy.
My Go-To Mascara:
I’m a simple girl when it comes to makeup and skincare (and hair for that matter), and Maybelline Great Lash Mascara has been my go-to brand, since I was an actress a million years ago. An on-set makeup artist once told me it was her favorite by far, so I started using it after that, and have ever since! It doesn’t clump, or weigh down your lashes like other brands can – and ya can’t beat the price! A tip I learned from Jillian Dempsey, a world-renown makeup artist (who also happens to be married to Patrick Dempsey), is to line your lashes underneath with mascara, with the tip of your applicator – it instantly thickens your lash line.
Speaking of world-renown makeup artists…. even our lovely Lisa Eldridge uses Great Lash Mascara from time, to time, as seen in her “Old Hollywood Inspired Party Look” tutorial. I posted this tutorial during the holidays, but it’s such a timeless, gorgeous look, it’s totally worth another peek. :)
I hope you and your lashes feel extra-inspired today! Carrie M is currently on vacay, but she’ll be back on here next Monday. Have a lovely week!
