Hey there! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
It’s Downton Sunday, and I have a confession: I am just now jumping on the Downton Abbey band wagon. For some time now, many of those closest to me have been telling me that I NEED to start watching! So, I decided to check it out. One episode and I was hooked! Not to mention, I’m obsessed with the decor and style! It is so very “me.”
In honor of my newfound love, I created two looks for a dining space, inspired by the dining room in the Abbey. Also, taking inspiration from Carrie J’s “How They’d Wear It Now” posts, I thought it would be fun to create a space that shows “how they would decorate it now.” I put a fun twist – one modern and one traditional – on the space. I’m loving both looks!
This first look is more modern. While I’m more inclined to go for the traditional look, I’m loving this more modern vibe. The fantastic table helps give it a more modern appeal, and adding the black velvet chairs and gorgeous rug helps maintain the style of the “twenties look.” The chandelier really pulls this look together for me. And while it’s a more modern vibe, it doesn’t compromise the elegance found in the Downton dining room.
This traditional style is oh-so fab. I love everything about it. I love the combined use of gold and silver. And those chairs – I would buy them right now if I had a space for them! There’s really not much to say to play up that chandelier – I think it goes unsaid that it’s fantastic. And the silver pitcher…?!….. makes me want to pour a cup of tea immediately!
Happy Sunday! Hope you all have a wonderful week!!
