Please indulge me for a moment. You are about to see a lot of photos. I can’t help myself. My niece, Riley, turned four this week, and I just loooove a good excuse to throw a party. Here’s the deal though; I lost my mind. My motto is, “Go big, or go home.” So, we went big. “Under the Big Top” big to be exact.
First, a little history…. Riley is my only niece, so this “going big” thing started with a baby shower for my sis-in-law, Carrie M, when we learned she was having a girl. So, from baby shower, to Birthday #1, then #2, and so on…. the parties just keep getting bigger and (in my opinion) better!
Each year Carrie and I collaborate; she typically chooses the theme, and I take it from there. I’m telling you; interior decorating and event planning literally run through my veins. Nothing thrills me more than taking a vision and running with it! And this circus theme could not have been more adorable!! Riley loved it, and so did we!! It truly turned out to be the best 4th birthday party EVER!!
The results??? Welp, see for yourself…..
Obviously, there are balloons at the circus, so we went “over the top” with the balloons….. 146 of them to be exact. We incorporated them into the favors, too. We dipped the bottoms in glitter, and they all turned out looking quite fab. I mean, who doesn’t love glitter?! We also adorned the favor tables with burlap runners to spruce the park tables up a bit.
Favors included the glitter dipped balloons tied to a mason jar, and cotton candy on a paper straw. Uh-dorbs. We also filled little circus-themed boxes with goodies, such as stickers, tattoos, clown noses, bubbles, and crayons with activity pads. These kids went away feeling like it was their birthday. Ha!
We found these amazing glass popcorn containers, and thought it would be so adorable to put hydrangeas in them to make it look like popcorn. How cute?!?!
One of my personal favorites for the party were cupcakes that look like popcorn in red-and-white-striped paper holders. I die. And they were delicious, too!!! We put these on tiered cake stands, as well as a large platter to give the table some height variation.
Another favorite: props for the photo booth. I must say this was a hit even with the adults!
More balloons – I told you! We strung 120 balloons into 10 strands of garland, and hung them from the ceiling of the pavilion. It could not have been more adorable! And was a fab splash of color!!
Every party needs bottled water with personalized labels. It’s simple, cheap, and SO cute!
How adorable are these bottled lemonades with paper straws?! Another favorite. Little bit of fun color, and the kids loved it!
Partners in Crime…..
Is this not just enough said? I mean, how about that entrance? We draped red-and-white-striped fabric at the end posts, and a banner for the birthday girl, along with the photo booth (which, ah-hem, if I may toot my own horn, I built myself for the sweet birthday girl).
We also had fun little activities, like face painting, bucket toss, and a bean bag toss. The face painting was a HUGE hit, and a big shout-out to Carrie’s sweet brother-in-law, John, for that success!!
There you have it. It was a day we will never forget. Happy Birthday, sweet Riley!
