So, I’m feeling pretty sentimental about this post for a couple of reasons: my little sister got married this past Sunday, and this is my last “official” post as primary author of Mama Style and Bump Day (I will introduce your new Mama Comandante next week!). It has been a short, but sweet journey for me, and I’m genuinely sad to part with Mama-Bump, but SMP is getting super busy (yay!), and needs my full attention to run it. I thought I’d end my little Mama stint with you on a personal note, by sharing some of my family moments on my sister’s wedding day this past Sunday.
To set the stage…. My sister’s wedding was held in Pennsylvania, and my family and I were all set and excited to attend a week of wedding festivities out there, but we were unable to travel at the last minute (long story). My oldest three children were going to be in the wedding, and we were just all so sad we couldn’t go for so many reasons! My oldest had burst into tears because she had “always wanted to see a real wedding cake!” Devastating. Anyway, with our chinny-chins up, we crafted Plan B; we decided to make a “wedding cake” (complete with Fisher Price Little People), dress-up in our wedding finery, and watch the wedding, live, via FaceTime. So, of course, our youngest promptly had a meltdown and fell asleep two minutes into the deal, my sister-in-law’s phone died halfway through the ceremony, and our four-tiered “wedding cake” got a big, fat, baby hand smashed into it, but I can’t tell you how much fun we had celebrating my sister’s wedding day in this way! And getting to watch my beautiful sister walk down the aisle….. well, that was priceless.
Please forgive my indulgence in posting so many photos, but documenting this day, as well as the process of creating this post, and sharing it with you, honestly helps us (okay me) to feel much more a part of my little sister’s Big Day. It just feels special. So. Here we are, in all our rumpled, wedding glory!
— I warned you; indulgent mama right here!
And that, folks, is our little happy-sad, technology-enhanced wedding tale!
I will misssssss you, Mamas!!! But you are gonna love your new Mama Captain (can’t wait to introduce her!!), and I will certainly pop in to say “hello” from time to time. Don’t be strangers now, ya hear?
-Carrie J (proud mama of 4)
PS. I wasn’t joking about the Fisher Price Little People…. Try not to read anything into the bride holding a baby bottle, and the groom holding a cell phone.
