Tending to your skin during the summer is imperative to prevent sun damage, and permanent changes to your complexion. Whether you have oily or dry skin, the right summer skin care regimen will balance the moisture in your face, and give you a healthy, sun-kissed glow that is just right for the season.
There are a number of natural treatments that will benefit your skin during the summer, and many of the treatments contain items you can find in your kitchen. The spa experts of upstate New York resort, Turning Stone, developed the luxurious skin mask you’ll find below. Try this easy-to-make mask for beautiful, summer skin. It only takes minutes to make. To make the mask, you need:
¼ cup of fresh-squeezed tomato juice, pulp included
1 tablespoon of fresh-squeezed lime juice
1 cup of avocado, mashed
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl until a green, creamy solution is formed. If the mask is too thin, or is runny, add a little honey or cornstarch. Honey gets rid of dark spots on the skin, and is an antibacterial agent that removes whiteheads and blackheads. Cornstarch is an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, and unclogs pores.
Rinse your face with warm water, and pat your face dry with a towel. Then, apply a thick layer of the mask; you’ll feel a tingling sensation to let you know the ingredients are penetrating your skin, and removing impurities. Leave the mask on your skin for 35 to 40 minutes, then rinse your face thoroughly with warm water, and then with cold water to seal your pores.
This mask provides several benefits for your skin that will make your summer especially enjoyable. Tomato juice evens your skin tone, and can get rid of acne, while avocado provides moisture for the complexion, and firms the skin. Avocado is also rich in vitamin A, which deep cleans the skin, and contains glutamine, an amino acid that protects the skin from the elements. This recipe is ideal for replenishing the skin after spending a day at the beach, and the wonderful thing is, that you’re replenishing your skin with ingredients that are free of any harmful chemicals or fillers. You can use the mask a few times a week for soft, supple, vibrant skin that looks great – even without makeup!
Here’s to a healthy, beautiful summer!
